Building Permits

Monday, January 01, 2018

If you are looking to make changes to your home or to construct a new one, you may need a building permit. While it is your property, the permitting process is put in place to ensure that adequate safety precautions are taken and that any structure meets the zoning and safety requirements set forth by the city. This is for the safety of homeowners and the general public.

You can read through the city codes to learn more about the permitting requirements and process here.

The general rule is, if you are doing more than $5,000 in repairs or improvements, you will need a permit. Permits issued for a project valued at $1,000 or more, will be issued to the County Assessor.
