Ordinance 2022-112 requiring registration of both residential and commercial vacant/abandoned properties was adopted by the City of Falls City on December 5th, 2022. The ordinance places a duty on the owner of vacant/abandoned properties to register the property with the city. Vacant/abandoned properties have been neglected by their owners, leaving it up to the city to keep them from becoming crime magnets, fire hazards, or dumping grounds and overwhelming city resources.

During a recent internal audit of utility customer accounts, an error was discovered in the calculation of the “power cost adjustment” (PCA) billing resulting in an overcharge to customers. The PCA is an adjustment made to your electric bill each month to reflect fluctuations in the true cost of power purchased and/or the cost of power generation by the City of Falls City.
