Beginning Monday, April 8, 2024, we will commence the closure of 14th Street from Harlan Street to Stone Street for an exciting street improvement initiative! This segment of West 14th Street will undergo closure for an extended duration to facilitate the construction of a new concrete street and intersection. This project has been a part of the Falls City One & Six Year Street Improvement plan since the early 2000's due to the deteriorating substrate. It will involve the removal of the brick surface and the installation of a new concrete street, including a new concrete intersection at 14th & Stone.

Moreover, this project serves as a component of the broader Falls City Street Improvements - Phase 1 endeavor. This phase encompasses the replacement of approximately 1,440 square yards of concrete pavement, 746 tons of asphalt, 903 tons of asphalt overlay, along with all associated removals, milling, rim/valve adjustments, seeding, and blanketing. The City of Falls City contracted with Olsson, Inc. for the engineering and Constructors, Inc. for the construction for a total project cost of approximately $750,000.00.

We kindly request that you plan your travel arrangements accordingly and utilize alternative routes during this period. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we endeavor to enhance the infrastructure of our community.
