Vacant Property Registration

Ordinance 2022-112 requiring registration of both residential and commercial vacant/abandoned properties was adopted by the City of Falls City on December 5th, 2022. The ordinance places a duty on the owner of vacant/abandoned properties to register the property with the city. Vacant/abandoned properties have been neglected by their owners, leaving it up to the city to keep them from becoming crime magnets, fire hazards, or dumping grounds and overwhelming city resources.
Property owners can register a vacant property by submitting a completed Vacant Property Registration Form to City Hall. There is no fee for initial registration. Property owners can find additional information on the vacant property ordinance here.
Citizens and members of the public can report vacant buildings to the Building Inspector at 402.245.2851 or to firstname.lastname@example.org.
