With Huskers Football Delayed, Falls City Looks Forward to High School Games
Wednesday, September 09, 2020
Big Ten college football has been delayed until spring, preventing teams like the Huskers from playing in alternative games this fall. As Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos said in August, “We are proud members of the Big Ten. We like the Big Ten. We’re going to compete in the Big Ten and be successful in the Big Ten.” Fans throughout Nebraska and the country will miss watching their teams play this fall. Fortunately, in Falls City, locals can look forward to watching the Falls City High School and Sacred Heart High School football teams play. Though there have been some changes due to COVID-19, games are set to continue throughout the fall. This is excellent news for players, parents and the entire community.
It’s important to follow safety guidelines at games
To keep the season playing as scheduled, everyone is encouraged to follow the new safety guidelines. The school district released the following statement:
Our primary goal is the safety of our athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators. It is important to understand that Falls City and Sacred Heart school athletes, coaches and spectators will be required to follow the host's schools protocols when attending out of town activities. Those protocols will be shared in advance as we receive them.
A summary of the safety protocols is as follows:
#1 People with an underlying medical condition, who are sick or have flu symptoms, or are elderly, are encouraged to stay home and watch the game live on the Falls City Striv channel.
#2 Anyone who has COVID-19, who lives with someone who has COVID-19, or has been exposed to COVID-19 should stay home.
#3 Patrons are asked to practice 6ft. social distancing at all times.
#4 The commons area in front of the concession stand needs to be clear of any large groups of spectators before, during, or after the game.
#5 Masks are highly recommended but not required.
#6 Fellowship, social gatherings, or other functions before or after the game on school
grounds will not be permitted.
#7 Falls City fans are asked to sit every other row. Family members are asked to sit together and social distance from other families.
