A Project to Protect Falls City’s Trees

Monday, December 26, 2016

The smallest things can have the greatest impact. You may overlook their presence, but you certainly notice when they are gone.

At the Falls City, Nebraska Steele Cemetery, the surrounding trees provide shade for visitors as they reminisce about times spent with their loved ones. While you may not initially notice the trees, you would certainly notice their absence and the resulting lack of shade, comfort, and protection.

After realizing that 70-80% of these trees would die within 20 years if further actions were not taken, the city launched a tree-planting project to eventually plant 128 conifers and deciduous trees in the cemetery. Thanks to the foresight of the cemetery board ycit, this plan ensures that Steele Cemetery will remain beautiful for generations to come.
